By the time you read this column Remembrance Day services will have come and gone just as the lives of many military members have come and gone. Thank you to all who served in the past and to all who serve in the present.
As the Poppy Campaign kicked off there were 92 spots to be filled by volunteers and Legion members at the various locations in the city. A tremendous effort was made to have this campaign become a success. A major thank you to all those who volunteered and to all the stores who supported us by supplying tables and chairs. Also a shout out to Romeo Levasseur, 1st vice-president, who somehow manages to put it all together.
A second thank needs to be given to all those involved in the Remembrance Week services that were conducted between Nov. 1 and Nov. 11. The Branch 72 colour party, Ladies Auxiliary colour party, sergeant-at-arms, president, vice-president and our padre attended 16 events at schools, seniors’ residences, long-term care homes, etc. to take remembrance services to them. Unfortunately due to time restraints we were unable to fulfil all requests.
